Our promise to respond, support, and be there when it matters most
At Y B P Health Cares, we understand that urgent needs don’t follow a schedule. Participants deserve consistent, respectful, and responsive support — especially in times of uncertainty. This policy outlines how we respond to emergencies and urgent matters to ensure our participants always feel safe, informed, and supported.
What We Define as an Emergency
An emergency may include (but is not limited to):
- A support worker not attending a scheduled shift without prior notice
- A participant being left without essential care (e.g. toileting, meals, medication)
- Sudden deterioration in a participant's health, behaviour, or emotional wellbeing
- Incidents in the home or community that create immediate risk (e.g. conflict, distress)
- Unexplained service cancellations, especially with no alternative provided
- Any situation where the participant feels unsafe, confused, or abandoned
How We Respond

- We provide a dedicated after-hours contact number for urgent matters.
- Calls and messages marked urgent are responded to within 1 hour (24/7).
- Escalation procedures are in place for serious risks (e.g. health, safety, legal).
- If a support worker cancels or doesn't attend, we will:
- Notify the participant or carer immediately
- Organise a replacement worker, wherever possible
- Follow up and provide a clear explanation
- All emergencies are documented and reviewed internally within 48 hours.
Our Commitment to Transparency
An emergency may include (but is not limited to):
- Participants will always be notified of roster changes and given the option to accept or decline replacement staff.
- Any service changes (availability, costs, support workers) will be clearly communicated in writing.
- Our Service Agreements are explained clearly in plain English (or in the participant's preferred language).
- We never overcharge, and participants receive a full breakdown of services and rates before support begins.
